OUR STORY

In 2021, The Bearded Baker, Scott Krevat, found a permanent home in Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill neighborhood after 6 years of selling macarons solely from farmers’ markets around New York state. Inside our small but bustling bakery, you can find Scott’s famous macarons next to a plethora of other cookies, brownies, empanadas, and even frozen treats and iced coffee for the summer.

Scott Krevat

The heart and soul of The Bearded Baker is our owner and head baker, Scott Krevat. His journey with macarons started in 2015, after he was gifted a box from his mother. He ate the whole box on the way home, and was instantly hooked and fascinated with the pastry.

That week, he began learning the process of baking macarons with zero years of baking experience under his belt. During the process, it took him 8 batches before anything looked remotely like a traditional macaron. Four months of trial and error eventually led to Scott learning the basic techniques.

In July of 2015, after figuring out that wholesale wasn’t what he wanted to do, Scott decided to take his show on the road and hit farmer’s markets all around the state. Starting in Seaford and Roslyn, and eventually to Southampton and Springs, Scott began to make a name for himself within the baking and macaron communities.

Now, after perfecting the craft with the same meticulous mind that led him to study chemistry once upon a time at NYU, Scott finds joy in constantly evolving the flavors and concoctions of the macarons. If you stop in on any Wednesday, you’ll likely see Scott putting the macarons together step by step, flanked by other treats he baked from scratch throughout the week.

Seriously, Scott can make a macaron out of any flavor or ingredient, give him a challenge the next time you’re in!
